Technical animation for UK engineering companies

Cutaways, exploded views and mechanism sequences that show how your product works inside, made by a studio with an engineering background.

Make complex engineering easy to understand

Technical animation shows the things a camera can't: the inside of a sealed unit, airflow through a duct, a mechanism moving through its cycle, or an assembly coming apart part by part. Done well, it lets a buyer, an investor or an engineer from a different discipline understand your product in a minute rather than an hour.

RenderForge Studio is a UK studio making technical animation for engineering and manufacturing companies. We combine an engineering background with brand-led design, so the animation is accurate and still looks like part of your marketing.

Why an engineering background matters

Technical animation goes wrong when the animator doesn't understand what they're animating. Parts move in ways they physically can't, flows go the wrong way, or the key feature gets lost behind a nice camera move. We can answer most technical questions ourselves from your drawings and CAD, which means fewer review rounds and less of your engineers' time spent correcting things.

Techniques

What technical animation can show

  • Cutaways and sections

Slice through a housing, pipe or enclosure to reveal the parts that do the work.

  • Exploded views and assembly

Take an assembly apart and put it back together, so every component and its job is clear.

  • Flow, heat and mechanism

Airflow, fluid paths, heat transfer and moving mechanisms, shown clearly and in the right direction.

Where technical animation gets used

  • Sales and tenders: explain a system to a buyer who isn't an engineer, or to one who is and wants proof you've thought it through.
  • Trade shows: a loop on the stand screen that shows the inside of the product you've brought along.
  • Training and installation: show installers and service engineers the right sequence, step by step.
  • Investor and board presentations: make a new technology understandable to people outside the lab.
  • Websites and LinkedIn: short cut-downs that explain one feature at a time.

Working from your data

We work from CAD (STEP and most native formats), drawings, photographs and a conversation with whoever knows the product best. Confidential details can be simplified or left out of the model. We regularly work under NDA.

Timescales

Most technical animations take four to eight weeks from brief to final delivery. You see style frames and a timed animatic before final rendering, so changes happen early, when they're quick to make.
